Ministry Trainee

Preaching Opportunities / Youth Ministry / Student Ministry / Music / Children's Ministry

Summary

Through our Ministry Intern Scheme we hope to help interns grow in their character, Christian understanding and gifting. Our aim is to help equip those who are already hoping to go into long-term gospel ministry.

About St Mary's Maidenhead

St Mary’s is a large, town-centre, evangelical Anglican church which aims to build up believers in Christ and draw others to faith in him. All age groups are represented in the church and this mixture produces a range of opportunities and challenges. In particular, we have an extensive children’s and youth ministry.

About the Role

Through our Ministry Intern Scheme we hope to help interns grow in their character, Christian understanding and gifting. Our aim is to help equip those who are already hoping to go into long-term gospel ministry.

Features of the scheme include:-

  • A strong element of training. Interns join the South Central Ministry Training Course based at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford for one day per week. There is also practical, on-the-job training in all the activities in which Interns are involved.
  • Mentorship. Each Intern is assigned a mentor. Regular meetings are held with the mentor and with the senior staff members.
  • It is a two-year program. This enables Interns to really settle into the church family and develop their ministry.
  • We involve Interns in a wide range of church activities: practical, biblical and relational. This means that Interns get to know the whole cross-section of the church family. We try to be flexible so that Interns can explore particular giftings and interests.
  • Serving within a supportive and nurturing staff team.

2019-2021

We are looking for up to three full-time interns to join our team starting in August/September 2019. They will work directly under one of the ministers for their development and spiritual growth and the Operations Manager as their line manager, and also liaise with other staff members. Accommodation will be provided by the church; bills and expenses are covered by the church and a living allowance is paid by a local trust.
