About West Hull Churches
We are a group of Anglican evangelical churches, affiliated with the ReNew network, who are working together to seek to reach the city of Hull – the UK City of Culture for 2017 - and surrounding villages with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The city of Hull has a rich evangelical heritage – once known as “a Garden of the Lord”, and the home city of William Wilberforce. At present, its evangelical population is comparable to that of Japan – in percentage terms - but we long for that to change. As a group of churches we have an ambitious goal to plant, establish and secure Anglican evangelical churches across the city. More information about our churches can be found at our respective websites: St Andrew's Kirk Ella, All Saints North Ferriby and the Anlaby Churches.
About the Role
Is God drawing you to an exciting and challenging ministry in a spiritually needy area? Are you looking to grow in your faith and discern your future calling? Could you, along with others and under God, help to transform a whole city by the power of the gospel?
We are looking to appoint a cohort of apprentices to learn and serve together. We expect that they will start in September 2019, though this can be negotiated. We will provide a combined training package, and there will be many opportunities to grow and learn together. There will also be opportunities to form friendships with other likeminded people. Between the churches, we can offer a variety of experiences of church life, and it is anticipated that each apprentice will serve primarily within one church / benefice. He / she will be part of the staff team of that church, and will receive oversight from the vicar, including regular face-to-face meetings.
We are looking for men and women who are willing to serve; keen to learn and grow as a Christian; are Biblically orthodox in life and doctrine; have a big vision for what God can accomplish; and come recommended by their own church. The role would be ideal for someone who is thinking about how they can best serve God in the longer term – either through full-time paid Bible-teaching ministry, or through other employment.
We will provide accommodation; a living allowance; apprentice colleagues; formal and informal training; hard work; a church family; and valuable ministry experience.
