We are delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Harker as the new Director of 9:38, which seeks to serve local churches in helping to raise up the next generation of gospel workers. His main responsibilities will include advocating this vision with UK church leaders, developing our resources, and planning our conferences.
Andy brings a wealth of experience with him and we believe this will be vital in helping 9:38 engage and equip the diversity of churches in the UK. Together with his family, he has recently spent seven years working for iServe Africa in Kenya. As Programmes Director, Andy was involved in networking, management, and developing and delivering training. Before moving to Kenya, he worked for local churches in London.
Andy said, “I love Jesus and ministry that exalts Jesus. I’m deeply concerned for the UK harvest field, and I’m passionate about 9:38 serving the local church in the task of raising gospel workers who love Jesus, love his Word, love his church and love the lost.” In his spare time Andy enjoys reading stuff that makes him think, assembling IKEA furniture and, most of all, spending time with his family.
The 9:38 Trustees are looking forward to having Andy on the team. Mark O’Donoghue, Chairman of 9:38 and Vicar of Christ Church Kensington, said: “With so many people in the UK and around the world lost without Christ, the need for local churches to raise up the next generation of gospel workers remains vital. Andy’s appointment comes at just the right time to ensure 9:38 can continue to serve local churches in that critical task. We are delighted he has agreed to come and serve as our first director.” Richard Coekin, Director of Co-Mission, commented, “I am thrilled by this appointment – having only got to know Andy recently, I am hugely impressed by his wisdom and godliness and am confident he will bring the direction and drive that 9:38 needs to raise up many more workers for the Lords harvest – terrific news!” And from the Rector of St Ebbe’s, Oxford, Vaughan Roberts: “Andy Harker’s appointment as 9:38 Director is an exciting development, which provides a wonderful opportunity to build on the foundations of the last 20 years and expand this important work.”
