About the Ministry Trainee Conference

The Ministry Trainee Conference is somewhat different from our other conferences. This conference is specifically for those who are already serving as ministry trainees (or apprentices, or pastoral assistants, or interns, or whatever your church calls it!) and takes place over three days in early January at High Leigh Conference Centre in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire (just off the A10). The conference is designed to complement the training taking place in local churches. Each conference has a particular theme around which the programme is built. The whole conference gathers together for the six main teaching sessions and then divides into teaching groups in order to give practice talks (on pre-assigned passages, which we aim to allocate by early December) and to pray together. There is also a Q&A panel, a bookstall and plenty of time to hang out with ministry trainees from other churches. To get an idea of what the 2020 conference will look like, please download the programme for 2019 (available on the right).

Please note that married couples who are both ministry trainees are very welcome – there is accommodation available for you. Please  to let her know if you are coming to the conference with your spouse.

Here's what Sarah Hall (Associate Minister at Emmanuel Wimbledon), one of our leaders on the conference, says about it:

"I've been helping to lead the women's stream for the last few years, but if I'm honest I find the conference a boost for me as much as for anyone! It's a treat to have experienced ministers remind us all of the privilege of being involved in full-time gospel ministry and exhort us to keep going. As you'd expect, the Bible teaching is rich and relevant, and there are plenty of opportunities to think about the day-to-day practicalities of ministry life too. Ministry Trainees have a chance to give practice talks, to get to know other trainees from all over the country, and to chat to the conference leaders who are all experienced gospel ministers. I can't think of a better way to start the new year!"
